Brief History
The Institute of Education was established in 1998 to address current trends in education and to meet the demands initiated by the government? educational reforms and in 2000 an in-service program was also included. Past and present directors are Drs. Ying-Yao Cheng (1998-2001), Ching-Hwa Tsai, (2001-2004), Shuk-kwan S. Leung (2004-2007, Jan.), Shu-Ching Yang (2007-2008, Aug.),  Wen-Bin Chiou (2008, Sept. to 2014,Jul), Pei-Yi Chou (2014,Aug. - 2017,Jul.), Zuway-R Hong(2017,Aug - 2019,Jul. )and Hsueh-Hua Chuag(2019,Aug-Present). . The objectives of this institute are to cultivate educational research competences, to strengthen the interdisciplinary research process, and to promote international exchanges of educational research efforts

Prospects and Future Development

1.     To combine resources in different colleges at the University, and conduct studies

        on curriculum design and teaching of various disciplines.

2.     To conduct comprehensive and detailed studies on the planning, implementation,

        and evaluation of the national education policies, in order to provide suggestions

        to the government for the enactment and implementation of the educational

        policies.

3.     To offer opportunities of in-service education and training to educational

        administrators and school teachers in the southern region, and to form a teaching

        and research center in southern Taiwan.

Advanced Study and Placement

1.     Professional ability to be acquired:

       The application of educational theories in curriculum and instruction, and in

       administrational policies in Education

2.     Major areas for advanced study:

       Cultivating further study planning in curriculum and instruction, educational

       administration, and educational policy analysis related to Education

3.     Placement:

       All graduate students can sit for examinations in the Teacher Education

       Program. After completion of the Program, graduates are qualified as school

       eachers. They can also participate in educational administration or in educational

        research.
